Does my child need to know how to play softball? Not at all. Our REC softball program is designed specifically around teaching players the game of softball from the ground up. No previous softball experience is necessary. However, players wanting to tryout for one of our TRAVEL softball teams must have previous softball experience.
How much does it cost? The costs for any season of Red Raider Softball is listed below by category:
REC Softball: $100/season (includes shorts, numbered jersey & socks)
TRAVEL Softball: $700/season 10U (does not include uniform)

When & where are practices and games?
For REC softball teams, practices are generally held once per weeknight and games are generally held one weeknight and one weekend day (2 games/week). Most games and practices are held in the upper
For our TRAVEL softball teams, practices are generally held 2-3 nights per week for approximately 2.5 hours. Practice locations vary, but again are generally held in the upper
How do I register? Registration can be done one of a couple of ways. One, and the most convenient, is online registration. Click HERE to go directly to our online registration page. From here you can choose the program you want to sign up for, enter all of your information and pay online.
The second way of registering is by printing out a registration form, completing it and mailing it to us with your payment. Mail in payments should be sent to:

Do you offer financial assistance? Yes. All financial assistance arrangements are handled on a case by case basis. Certain criteria must be met to qualify for financial assistance. Please contact us directly at either (301) 515-3385 or info@redraidersoftball.com to discuss any questions and arrangements concerning financial aid.
When does registration start and end? Registration for our REC spring season begins January 1st of each year and ends March 15th of that year. Fall registration begins July 1st of each year and ends September 7th. Travel softball registration is held after our tryouts are completed in August.
Do you hold any clinics? Yes! We hold 2 different clinics/programs on a regular basis - our Beginner's Softball Clinic (BSC) and our Winter Workout Program (WWP). Click the links to learn more about our clinics. We also hold various impromptu clinics throughout the season.

Do I get a uniform? Yes! Our REC program includes full uniforms. Our REC players receive a pair of shorts, numbered jersey and socks. REC players receive a new uniform with each registration for each season. For our TRAVEL players, uniforms are purchased separately during their initial registration at an additional expense above the TRV program fee. No new uniforms are supplied with each subsequent registration.
What equipment does my child need to bring? For REC softball, players should have their own softball glove, bat and helmet. Talk to your coach about sizes and what types of equipment to purchase. There does not need to be a big expense outlaid for this. Typically any decent equipment will do. For TRAVEL softball, players are required to have their own equipment. However, a batting helmet and player gear bag are included in the travel softball fee.
Can I form a Red Raider team? How? Yes! We welcome new teams to our organization. If you already have a team that is already together, let us know. We have a space for you. If you would like information on forming a new team,

Do I have to complete a waiver? Yes. All Red Raider Softball players and coaches MUST complete our Consent & Waiver Form in order to participate in ANY Red Raider Softball program. Click HERE for a copy of the form.
Do you sell any spirit wear items? Yes! In fact, we have a full line of Red Raider softball gear including t-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, hats, chairs and much more. All of it can be viewed and purchased online at our Red Raider Store. Click the link to be directed to our store site.
How do I contact Red Raider Softball Personnel? All of our staff and personnel can be reached by any of the contact methods listed on our contacts page. How long does the season last? It really depends on the season and at what level the team plays. Generally speaking, our SPRING REC season begins in early April and concludes in the beginning of JUNE. FALL REC teams begin in SEPTEMBER and conclude in late OCTOBER. TRAVEL teams are a bit different - they begin their softball season in September (after tryouts have concluded) and conclude at the end of July or early August. See the chart below:

Do I have to tryout for a Travel Team? Yes. All players that wish to play on one of our TRAVEL teams must tryout first. Tryouts are used to determine if a player possesses the skills to compete at the higher tournament softball level, as well as determining which team to place a player on. Tryouts are held in August of each year in Montgomery County. Click HERE for current travel team tryout information and scheduling.
